Greek Yogurt Snickers Salad (high-protein dessert)

If you’re a Midwesterner — like me — chances are you are extremely familiar with the classic potluck dish, Snickers Salad. It’s a delicious combination of fluffy cool whip, apples, and, of course, Snickers. If you are not from the Midwest, you might be slightly confused by the ingredient combination, but trust me, the flavors are so delicious. I’ve taken the classic ingredients, lightened them up, and increased the protein for an easy high-protein dessert or snack. You can also triple or quadruple the ingredients for a sharable size of this Greek Yogurt Snickers Salad.

Ingredients for Greek Yogurt Snickers Salad

  • Greek yogurt — I like to use nonfat Greek yogurt because of its high-protein and low-calorie macro ratio. For the sake of convenience, I will often use a single-serve Greek yogurt container instead of measuring out the amount from a large container.
  • Instant pudding mix — Using sugar free vanilla instant pudding will lower the calories without sacrificing the flavor. If you’re looking for a sugar-free pudding mix with more natural ingredients, you can try this Simply Delish brand.
  • Collagen or protein powder (optional) — If you’d like to increase the protein even more, you can add a small amount (probably around 10 g.) of collagen or protein powder to your Greek yogurt mixture.
  • Cool whip — Cool whip adds fluffiness and volume to this dish, but it doesn’t add much in terms of nutrition. You can leave this ingredient out if you would like!
  • Apple — Honeycrisp or Granny Smith apples are my favorite for this salad, but you can use whatever apple variety you like best. Combined with the vanilla pudding mixture, any apple will taste good!
  • Snickers — It wouldn’t be a Snickers salad without a Snickers bar! I chop 1/4 bar to top on my dessert, but you can use as many Snickers as you like.
