Caprese Skewers (with Balsamic Glaze)

  • Author: Laura
  • Total Time: 20 minutes
  • Yield: 12 1x

Description

This caprese skewers appetizer recipe is not only EASY but delicious. The combination of mozzarella, basil, tomato, olive oil, and balsamic is pure perfection. Caprese bites create a beautiful visual, as well, perfect for a backyard picnic or potluck.

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 8 oz. mozzarella balls
  • 4 oz. cherry or grape tomatoes
  • 24 small basil leaves (or 12 larger leaves cut in half)
  • 12 small skewers
  • 2 Tbsp. olive oil
  • 2 Tbsp. balsamic glaze
  • Prosciutto (optional)

Instructions

  1. Cut the mozzarella balls in quarters (if using larger mozzarella balls)
  2. Cut the cherry or grape tomatoes into halves or thirds (depending on their size)
  3. Remove basil leaves from the plant
  4. Alternate the tomato, basil, and cheese (and add prosciutto if you are using that)
  5. Drizzle with olive oil and balsamic glaze

Notes

  • The amounts could vary slightly depending on whether you cut each component. I typically purchase an 8 oz. container of mozzarella balls, a 10 oz. container of tomatoes, and a small package of fresh basil.
  • The olive oil and balsamic glaze measurements are only recommendations. You can drizzle more or less depending on preference.
  • This will yield approximately 12 skewers depending on the skewer size
